Stephen St. Laurent, DJ Steve-O, has been with Jacques Entertainment since 1999.
A lot of friends and people I talk to ask how I got into DJing. I started in 1995 entertaining the local School scene originally as fun and hobby. Before I could blink an eye I was being called by various school organizations to put on dances. The thought was new and exciting but also overwhelming. I had no real equipment and most of my “professional” equipment consisted of various CD Players and amplifiers I managed to borrow from the family’s Hi Fi and my friends. After my first few gigs I decided to pursue these shows and before I knew it I was working with real equipment, doing various types of dances.
After a few years I joined the team at Jacques Entertainment and have been a part ever since. I have gained valuable knowledge and learned far more than ever possible own my own. Being a DJ is more than setting a playlist and speaking on the microphone. There is an element of commitment by true DJ’s to provide an everlasting memory of how great the evening was. Commitment exists among those who are passionate about their job and those who never settle.
Responding to the crowd is the best feedback a DJ has. Having access to the latest technology and music is the best resource a DJ has. Balancing resources and feedback have allowed me to develop tools required to create a great experience for you and your guests.
“Knowing who sings a song is great, most people are capable of such. Knowing when to play these songs and how to mix them is what makes me a true DJ.”-DJ Steve-O
